Festive Cake

Tutor: Emma Starling

Bored of the usual Christmas Cakes decorated with a sprig of plastic holly and a tired looking robin? Come to this course with your own baked fruit cakes (or buy from the tutor) and leave with a striking two tiered cake to impress at the Christmas table.

Students need no prior cake decorating or sugar work experience as all techniques will be demonstrated and students will be well supported throughout. Students should then be able to use skills in their own future projects.

On the first day of the course students will make Mexican modelling paste and piped royal icing decorations which will set hard over night. The following day students will learn how to marzipan and fondant ice their cakes with a professional finish. The cake will be assembled on an iced cake board and finished with sparkle dusts and royal icing ready to take home.

Once you have booked your place you will be contacted by the tutor regarding baking your cake prior to the course and given a list of basic kitchen tools you can bring with you.

There will be an additional materials cost for marzipan, specialist icings, colours etc. The amount will depend on the size of cakes you bring with you – but will not exceed £25.

£70 for two days plus materials as required
