We believe strongly in high standards of animal welfare and responsible environmental practice and work always to sustainable principles. Our Alpaca fibre is produced & processed locally in the Blackdown Hills.

Alpacas live up to 20 years and are farmed solely for their fibre production, not for meat. They are gentle, grazing, herd animals and are amazingly successful fox deterrents making them extremely good companion animals for those with livestock to guard, such as chicken, peacocks or sheep.

Alpacas require fenced pasture, shelter, clean water and company of other alpacas. In addition they may need this supplemented with hay and a little concentrated feed (this should only ever be given in very small quantities).

In summer we employ the services of a mobile shearer to clip the fleece, check teeth and feet and do any necessary vaccinations. At other times of year it may be necessary to trim feet and also vaccinate or worm (we test rather than worm routinely).

We regularly handle our alpacas to ensure they trust us, this makes routine care easier for both you and your alpacas.

We pay for your first years membership to the British Alpaca Society (to include magazine subscription) and Blackdown Hills Natural Fibres Group when you pruchase alpacas from us.
